What's new at RbDevOps: more reliable billing, and annual pricing is here
We don't publish a post every time we ship something. Most weeks the changes are small: a faster page, a clearer error message, a bug nobody outside our own testing ever saw. But every so often we finish a stretch of work worth telling you about, and this is one of those times.
Annual billing is here
If you run HM Praxis on a Basic or Pro plan, you can now pay yearly instead of monthly and get roughly two months free, about 20% off compared to paying month by month. It's the same plan and the same features, just billed once a year instead of twelve times. If you'd rather keep paying monthly, nothing changes for you. Annual is simply a new option, not a replacement. You can see both prices on the pricing page.
A closer look at how we handle billing
Behind the pricing page there's a whole system responsible for making sure the right amount gets charged to the right person at the right time: subscriptions, plan changes, team seats, refunds, all of it. Over the past few weeks we went through that system from end to end, looking specifically for the kind of rare, hard-to-spot situations that only show up when two things happen at almost exactly the same moment, like a double-click or a slow connection triggering a retry.
We found a handful of these rare scenarios and closed every one of them. None had caused a real problem that we're aware of. This was proactive work, not damage control, but "nobody has complained yet" isn't the standard we hold ourselves to when it comes to your money. Every fix was verified against a real test environment that mirrors how payments actually work before it went live, the same way every billing change goes out: checked first, shipped second.
Why we're telling you this
Most of our engineering work is invisible by design. You shouldn't have to think about billing infrastructure, and most days you won't. But we think it's worth being upfront about the less visible work that keeps a platform trustworthy, not only about the features that make for exciting headlines.
If you haven't tried what we're building yet, HM Praxis is live today, and it's the first of several tools we're building on the same platform. Take a look at our products.
