Do I need an internet connection to use HM Praxis?

No. HM Praxis works entirely offline. You only need internet to download updates or verify your license periodically. Multi-device sync runs over your local network and does not need an internet connection.

Where is my data stored?

Accepted Answer

Your business data is stored locally on your own device, encrypted at rest. We only store your account information and license keys. Pro multi-device sync happens directly between your devices over your local network, with no cloud relay, so your patient data never leaves your machines.

Can I use my license on multiple devices?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Depending on your plan, you can activate your license on multiple devices. Each device you use will count against your device limit.

How do I transfer data between devices?

Accepted Answer

With Pro LAN sync, both devices join the same local network, the new device copies the database from a peer once, and after that each change flows directly between the devices. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.

What happens if my subscription expires?

You can still access and work with your local data offline. Sync between devices will be disabled until you renew. Your trial period is 14 days, after which an active subscription is required to continue syncing.

Windows shows a security warning when installing. Is this safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Windows SmartScreen shows this warning for new software that has not yet built reputation with Microsoft. Click "More info" and then "Run anyway" to continue. We are working on extended code-signing to remove this warning.

What are the system requirements?

Windows: Windows 10/11 (64-bit), 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended), 500 MB disk space. macOS: macOS 11 Big Sur or later, 4 GB RAM minimum, 500 MB disk space. An internet connection is needed to activate your license; multi-device sync runs over your local network.
